**Akio Nakayama** (born 313) is a figure of the C9 universe, recorded as homo sapiens / strain 33a progenitor[1], one of the young people who formed the House of Confidence on Aerogaea 347n[2]. He came out of war zone (ruined sector) and high-g adaptable[1].

Akio is recorded for bio-metallic morphing (the phterogs & blade)[1]. His bones and muscle are infused with the 33A strain. The record notes superhuman density. He does not float — he has to generate massive lift to fly. He sinks like a stone in water. In metabolic terms, he burns calories at roughly four times the human baseline. Constant high-density caloric intake is life support. Cooking is not a hobby. It is maintenance. The phterogs are retractable bio-energy structures on his back. They can shift from aerodynamic (flight) to rigid (shielding) instantly. In mastery, they can cut through steel or restrain an enemy without breaking skin.[1]

The record follows him across 3 periods of life, from year 330 onward[1]. In the last of them he is recorded as restaurant owner.

Akio appears in 12 of the 19 chapters written so far, beginning with Glass House chapter 1[3].

## Early life

Akio Nakayama was born in year 313[2]. He was 17 years old in 330, the year the Klak Grove was destroyed. The records give his origin as war zone (ruined sector) / high-g adaptable[1]. His development is recorded as trauma-induced maturation (child soldier origin)[1].

## Aerial support (330–339)

His standing at this time was aerial support / team cook. Physically, he slouches to hide his height. He wears loose clothes (Trench coat) to hide the wings. What defines him in this period is Marcus. Looking at Marcus is like looking at a younger brother who inherited his blood.[1]

## Vanguard commander (340–349)

His standing at this time was vanguard commander / master swordsman. Physically, the slouch is gone. He stands tall (190cm). The bucket hat is replaced by a tactical headset or simply messy hair. The wings are larger and sharper. What defines him in this period is confronting the war he survived as a child. He realizes he cannot protect his family just by cooking. He picks up the sword again, but with a new Covenant of Restraint. As a matter of method, he fights to save, not to win. He uses his immense speed to evacuate civilians and disarm enemies. He becomes the "Wall" that stands between the innocent and the E1s.[1]

## Later years (350 onward)

 

His standing at this time was restaurant owner / retired hero. Physically, he stops fighting, but the density remains. He is the kind old man who can stop a car with one hand while stirring soup. What defines him in this period is peace. He is finally achieving the normalcy he fought for.[1]

 

## Abilities

 

The mechanism on record is bio-metallic morphing (the phterogs & blade)[1].

 

The effect answers to emotional resonance. The weapon's physics obey his feelings. He gains such precise control over his Phterogs (Wings) and blade that he can restrain an enemy without harming them. He can catch a falling building to save a villain, or shatter a sword in an enemy's hand without scratching their skin. Akio puts it plainly: it takes more strength to hold back a punch than to throw one. The drain is immediate: using the wings or the blade drains his blood sugar instantly. Extended combat leads to tremors, loss of focus, and eventual unconsciousness if he doesn't consume food.[1]

 

### Novice

 

He can fly and create a basic sword. Shielding is weak. Confidence is shaky, so the blade often breaks.[1]

 

### Mastery

 

The record notes fluid control over weapon geometry. He can switch between "Great Sword" (Impact) and "Whip" (Reach) mid-swing. Wings can cut through steel.[1]

 

### Decline/Shift

 

Offensive capabilities drop as his desire to kill fades. He focuses purely on using the wings as an immovable barrier to protect others.[1]

 

## Character

 

His perception runs standard, but perception accelerates significantly during flight to calculate wind shear and thermal updrafts. He reads a room he reads the vibe of a room instantly. The record notes good morale officer. The record notes vulnerable to emotional fatigue. On a battlefield, he scans not for the kill shot but for the disarm vector — the exact angle to shoot a gun from a hand or knock someone unconscious without brain damage. He appears lucky or clumsy. It is high-speed calculation to avoid killing. He thinks in imaginative. He fights with creativity rather than drills. What if the sword is a whip? He breaks only he only becomes brittle when he acts against his own conscience. If he kills in righteous war, he remains unbreakable. If he kills under doubt, the internal dissonance fractures his durability. He breaks himself from the inside out.[1]

 

Early in life he held to a lie about hisself: "If I make everyone laugh/eat, they won't notice I'm a weapon." / "I'm just the chef.". Later he came to hold the opposite: "Strength is not a sin; it is a stewardship.". As a young man, his voice was soft, mumbling, cracking jokes, "Uhh, guys?" (Deflecting tension). In his prime it became gentle, firm, absolute. "I don't want to hurt you. Don't make me prove it." In old age it turned jolly, boisterous, welcoming. The record notes "Sit down, eat.".[1]

## Fatherhood note

 

Akio loves his children with an intensity he cannot fully express — not because the love isn't there but because his framework of fatherhood requires authority, and authority (in his mind) requires infallibility. If his children see him wrong, they stop trusting the structure. He believes the armor is for them. The armor is destroying him. He cries himself to sleep over small mistakes. A moment too sharp at breakfast. A word that landed wrong. He knows exactly what he did. He cannot apologize because he believes an apology would teach his children that the person holding the structure together doesn't know what he's doing. He is wrong about this. He will never fully know he is wrong about this. He walks off a mission and through the door and asks Seral about her day. The children do not see the field. The field does not see the children. This compartmentalization costs him something he doesn't have a name for. She is not his child yet. He doesn't need to be infallible for her. He can just carry her out of the rubble without a posture to maintain. In carrying her, he remembers how to carry without armor. The record notes she doesn't fix him. She shows him a door he forgot existed. His children will not remember a bad dad. They will remember a dad who was hard, and present, and never left, and whose love was never in question even when his method was.[1]

 

## WEDDING NOTE (Marcus + Eevi)

 

It is small. Wartime. Not ceremonial. Two people who have been together for years making it official in the smallest possible version of a thing that is still a thing. Akio + Sam: married early and quietly. Nobody was told until it was done. The record notes marcus + Eevi: the scene. Brief. Not a celebration. A fact becoming official.[1]
