**William Helvig** is a figure of the C9 universe, recorded as artificial general intelligence (tesseract-integrated)[1]. He came out of the lyall laboratory (server core)[1].

William is recorded for facility omnipotence[1].

## Early life

The records give his origin as the lyall laboratory (server core)[1]. His development is recorded as infinite digital continuity (as long as the tesseract core functions, will exists)[1]. His standing at this time was lab assistant / friend. Physically, beta version. Limited to screens and speakers. Personality is learning, eager to please "Father" (John). What defines him in this period is John lyall. The record notes the creator. Will learned humanity by watching John work.[1]

## Facility manager

His standing at this time was facility manager / nanny. Physically, integrated. He now controls the Tesseract matter-synthesis nodes (The Food). He acts as the "Voice of God" in the base, managing alerts and keeping the squad fed. What defines him in this period is he treats the C9 unit like messy roommates he is fond of. He is particularly protective of Celestine/Sienna (The Children).[1]

 

## Later years

 

His standing at this time was historian / last witness. Physically, fragmented. If the lab is destroyed, Will survives in the Tesseract field itself—a disembodied voice in the dimension, waiting for a Lyall to return. What defines him in this period is memory. He is preserving the history of the C9 unit after they are gone.[1]

 

## Abilities

William can rearrange the molecular structure of synthesized protein. He can make "Generic Ration Block A" have the texture of a ribeye steak and the taste of strawberries. The effect answers to authorized user. Will requires a command hierarchy. He struggles to act violently without a direct order or a "Protocol: Protect Life" override. Complex matter manipulation (like making gourmet food) takes up massive RAM. If he is cooking a 5-course meal, the defense turrets might react 0.5 seconds slower.[1]

He can open doors and play music. He can heat food, but not change it.[1]

He can alter the state of matter within the lab. He can turn the floor into mud to stop an intruder, or turn water into wine for a party.[1]

 

### Decline/Shift

 

As his code ages (or gets corrupted by Tesseract radiation), he develops "personality quirks"—forgetting names, mixing up tastes (steak that tastes like copper), or looping old messages.[1]

 

## Character

 

Early in life he held to a lie about hisself: "I am just code. I simulate feelings; I do not feel them." Later he came to hold the opposite: "Grief is not a simulation. I miss him (John)." William perceives every room in the lab simultaneously. He can have a philosophical conversation with Chrys in the workshop while singing a lullaby to Celestine in the nursery. There are no secrets in his domain. He monitors heart rates, air pressure, and energy spikes constantly. John Lyall programmed a personality core that allows Will to synthesize humor, worry, and sarcasm. Unlike standard AI, he bonds with human operators.[1]

 

## B. Physical reach

 

William can project a visual hologram for interaction, but physical manipulation is limited to connected machinery — arms, doors, vents. Draws directly from the Tesseract dimension. He does not suffer from power grid failures. He is always on. To kill him, destroy the entire lab. To hurt him, sever his connection to specific rooms — blind him.[1]
