Amaryllis Rigel Helvig (born 315) is a figure of the C9 universe, recorded as homo sapiens (pyro-kinetic variant), one of the young people who formed the House of Confidence on Aerogaea 347n. She came out of terrestrial and industrial zones.

Amaryllis is recorded for pyrokinesis (thermal generation). Her skin is higher ignition point than standard. She doesn't self-immolate from radiant heat. Joints are hyper-mobile for parkour. She acts as a universal solvent and antidote. Aggressively binds to and neutralizes foreign toxins. Side effect: a hyper-active immune system that may attack benign things if she isn't exposed to dirt regularly. Her skin is fireproof; her lungs are not. The respirator is not cosmetic. She is inhaling her own superheated fumes would sear her alveoli.

The record follows her across 3 periods of life, from year 330 onward. In the last of them she is recorded as master alchemist.

Amaryllis appears in 10 of the 19 chapters written so far, beginning with Glass House chapter 2[1].

Early life

Amaryllis Rigel Helvig was born in year 315. She was 15 years old in 330, the year the Klak Grove was destroyed. The records give her origin as terrestrial / industrial zones. Her development is recorded as rapid maturation (forced by combat environment).

Scavenger (330–339)

Her standing at this time was scavenger / field tech / the little sister. Physically, small, wiry, constantly covered in soot or grease. She is wearing oversized tactical gear. What defines her in this period is Eevi. Amaryllis pushes boundaries; Eevi pulls her back.

Lead engineer (340–349)

Her standing at this time was lead engineer / the forge. Physically, her frame fills out slightly. She trades the oversized coat for practical lab gear. The "Chaos" is channeled into protecting Celestine and Sienna.

Later years (350 onward)

Her standing at this time was master alchemist / teacher. Physically, her hair fades from glowing red to a soft champagne white. She moves less, but her "Snatch" (ESP) is faster than ever. What defines her in this period is teaching Sienna how to understand the monsters she used to burn.

Abilities

The mechanism on record is pyrokinesis (thermal generation).

The record notes eSP "The Snatch" (Telekinetic Apportation). Instant short-range transport of objects to her hand. The effect answers to desire/Impulse. The fire reacts to her want. The cost of it is respiratory load & sensory occlusion. She is effectively blind and deaf to the natural world during combat because she is sealed inside her protective gear (Goggles/Mask). She relies entirely on her team to be her "eyes and ears" while she is the "fire.".

Novice

Gross output of heat. The record notes hard to control direction. "Snatch" is limited to small items (keys, grenades).

Mastery

She has absolute thermal control. She can superheat a specific bolt to 1200°C to loosen it without damaging the surrounding paint. Combat Utility: She doesn't just blow up a door; she reshapes it into a barricade.

Decline/Shift

She focuses on chemical mixing and biological antidotes rather than raw fire.

Character

Her perception runs variable. Normal perception usually, but slows during The Snatch to allow for precise hand coordination. She filters she reads the world through utility. Where others see a destroyed tank, she sees 40kg of high-grade titanium and a working fuel pump. The record notes she isn't distracted. She is cataloging resources. She thinks in radical repurposing. She connects trash to treasure instantly. This enemy drone has a lens. Melt the casing, re-seat the lens, make a telescope for Sienna. The result is always shockingly beautiful in contrast to the environment. When working — smelting, crafting — she enters a hyper-focused trance. Quiet, precise, surgical with her heat. The record notes the wildcard disappears. The record notes the master appears.

Early in life she held to a lie about herself: "It's not dangerous if I know the atomic weight." / "If I can make it useful, they won't throw it away.”. Later she came to hold the opposite: "Fire warms the house, but only if it stays in the fireplace. Control is love." As a young woman, her voice was high energy, fast, punctuated by giggles or "Oops." Sounds like a manic science teacher. In her prime it became enthusiastic but focused. She uses technical jargon to distance herself from the violence. In old age it turned warm, crackling, eccentric. Tells stories that end in explosions. She speaks in textures and colors. "That explosion wasn't 'loud', it was 'brittle'." She gets frustrated when people treat objects carelessly. The record notes "Don't kick that. The record notes that's a intake valve!”.

Family

She is married to Chryssander Randolf Lyall-Helvig.
